The historic city of Salvador was founded in 1549 and is famous for being one of Brazil’s most vibrant cities, due to its countless carnivals, parties and celebrations. Food enthusiasts will love sampling the local cuisine, such as shrimp bobó, vatapá and many other delicious seafood dishes. The “biggest party on the planet” is held in Salvador, which lasts for a whole week and attracts millions of people to join in with the fun and festivities. The city is consistently warm and humid throughout the year, due to its tropical rainforest climate. Due to it’s location on the coast, Salvador features a vast stretch of glorious beaches, making sailing, fishing, surfing and swimming very popular. Expats with children will have a range of educational institutions to pick from – from international schools to several universities. There are several distinct neighbourhoods to choose from in the city, from traditional, low key housing in the Historic Centre to more modern accommodations in areas such as the Barra district. Choosing how to spend an afternoon in your new home of Salvador may be challenging, but shipping your items there could not be simpler. There are two options when it comes to shipping container sizes. A 20-foot container could be used to transport items from inside a 3-bedroom house, or a 40-foot container if you’re transporting goods from inside a 4 or 5-bedroom house. The same 40-foot container can be used if you’re moving the contents of a 3-bedroom house and you are also planning on taking the family car.
In general a car will fit into a 20ft container. You will also need to consider quarantine and tax charges usually levied on importing vehicles.
