Lansing is the capital city of Michigan and serves as an important commercial, governmental, cultural and educational hub for the state. The climate in Lansing is similar to other states in America's Midwest, in that the summers are warm and humid and the winters are cold with some snowfall. The city has great healthcare facilities, although expats should be aware that the U.S. does not have a nationalised healthcare option and private insurance must be purchased. Wonderful highlights of Lansing are the farmers markets that take place during the summer months, as well as the Lansing City Market, which is open year round. In downtown Lansing you can find countless bars, clubs and restaurants, many of which often have live bands and musicians playing. Michigan State University and Thomas M. Cooley Law School, which is the biggest law school in the United States, is situated in the city, along with a great many other academic establishments. The hugely popular Potter Park Zoo is also located in Lansing, attracting thousands of visitors each day.
Prior to moving to Lansing, you must first decide on what size container to use to ship your items. Two options are available and which one you choose depends entirely on how much you have to ship. A 20-foot container could hold the contents of a 3-bedroom house. For those of you with a 4 or 5-bedroom house, a 40-foot container would be the better choice. A 40-foot container could also hold the belongings from inside a 3-bedroom house, along with a vehicle.
